UCABAgTech2023: demonstration of economically balanced and innovative solutions in wartime conditions

On 2 August 2023, at the production facilities of Continental Farmers Group (Velyke Kolodne village, Kamianka-Buzka district, Lviv region), the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Association together with the UCABevent agency held a large-scale field event – UCABAgTech2023. The event brought together more than 500 guests and participants from different parts of Ukraine.

The event combines: a charity master class, an informative plenary part, a powerful block of demonstration of technology, an exhibition area and a flight of agrodrons. During the opening of the event, the participants were greeted by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi, and the welcome speech was shared by the Director General of Continental Farmers Group Georg von Nolcken and the Director General of UCAB Roman Slaston.

During the plenary part, all participants were able to discuss cases that will be useful for farmers at every stage of production — from seed selection to optimization of field operations using innovative software applications. The experience was shared in short presentations:

● Przemyslaw Sawicki, representative of Mais in Poland, case “The Way of Cossack Corn to the European Farmer”;
● Svetlana Stepanchuk, Head of Sales Technical Support BASF, case “The importance of creating innovative solutions for the modern agricultural market”;
● Oleksandr Vagin, Head of Agro-Chemical Technology Department, case “Fertilizer Production and Logistics”;
● Roman Bitsa, leading specialist in technological support of the Climate FieldView product, case “Practical application of digital tools to improve the efficiency of the economy”;
● Alexander Rostotsky, chief agronomist of BTU-CENTER, case “Microbiology: best practices for restoring soil fertility”;
● Taras Pylypak, Trimble Regional Equipment Sales Manager, case “Features of Digital Data Use”.

During the test drives of the units of domestic and international manufacturers, the following was tested in the field: combine harvesters, navigation systems, self-propelled and trailed sprayers, deep tillers, mineral fertilizer spreaders, strip-till units, plows, disc harrows, discolling units, units for soil care and moisture closure, cultivators for strip tillage, peelers, precision seeders, grain seeders and sowing complexes. Each participant of the event could independently evaluate the work of agricultural machinery and draw conclusions about the best options for their own business.

The presentation of the MacDon FD 235 grain harvester deserves special attention, since it is a novelty that is designed specifically to facilitate harvesting. Among the advantages of this flexible three-section copying reaper with a double or tripled reel is that it mows cleaner and faster. It also guarantees a smooth, uniform representation of vegetation in the combine with tops forward, even at maximum bending.

Also new for the Ukrainian field is the TERRASEM V 6000 DZ sowing complex with simultaneous fertilization from the PÖTTINGER company, which, with perfect field copying, even in difficult conditions and at high speeds, accurately lays the sewing material. In addition, for the first time for a wide audience, the Vaderstad Carrier XT 625 disc cultivator was tested - a trailed disc cultivator with an X-shaped arrangement of discs, which has a folding frame and a working width of 6.25 m. The unit attracts the possibility of reducing the volume of soil being moved, optimal machine weight and intensive ultra-surface soil cultivation.

Despite the wartime restrictions on UCABAgTech 2023, it became possible to demonstrate the work of agrodrons. Participants were able to enjoy the flight of drone sprayers XAG P100 and XAG V40 from DroneUA. According to the company's observations, the Ukrainian integration of drones into agricultural production has become a model on the world stage. And for good reason, because agricultural producers highly appreciate the advantages of agrodrons, namely: reducing the cost of cultivation, avoiding plant damage, reducing the impact of PPP on personnel and high-precision application.
In the exhibition area, about 70 companies presented innovative agricultural technologies and wartime-relevant solutions for agricultural producers. Participants were enthusiastically acquainted with various proposals for cooperation in the areas of plant protection, fertilization and biological products, maintenance of equipment, spare parts production, carbon farming, concessional financing and lending.

In addition, everyone had the opportunity, together with CEO IMC Alex Lissitsa and Continental Farmers Group CEO Georg von Nolcken, to take part in a charity master class on cooking banush with chanterelles and hemp seeds from brand-chef Elena Zhabotinskaya. The withdrawn funds, together with donations that were collected throughout the event, will be directed to DJI Mavic 3T THERMAL for the needs of the 7th Company, 3rd Svoboda Battalion of the Rapid Reaction Brigade of NGU Rubezh. Here, Dmytro Davydenko, until recently the General Director of Amazon-Ukraine, defends Ukraine. After all, it is the Armed Forces of Ukraine that make such events possible, bravely defeating the enemy on all fronts.

Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Association and the UCABevent agency express their sincere gratitude for the support of the UCABAgTech 2023 field event to: Continental Farmers Group – organizational partner, Mais – seed partner, BASF – agrochemical partner, Agrohimtechnologia – plant nutrition partner, Climate FieldView by Bayer – innovation partner, BTU-CENTER – biotechnology partner, Trimble – digital partner in precision agriculture, and AgroPortal – exclusive online media partner.
